Reason 1: There is no real technical reason for that. It's just to differentiate between them. Some guy started it, others follow it as a taken-for-granted fact.
Like, why is Ohm's Law called Ohm's Law (well, the guy called Ohm wanted to take credit for it! Kidding!)
Reason 2: Red, blue and green are the only real primary colors. This "RBG combination" is followed in many countries. We follow "RYB" because India was a British colony and we followed what they started.
