Ciphering is the process of altering voice or data information with the intention of preventing its consumption or usage by unauthorized recipients. Ciphering involves the use of a data processing algorithm (formula program) that uses one or more secret keys that both the sender and receiver of the information use to encrypt and decrypt the information.
