define reactive power?

Answer Posted / n panja

Reactive power is the part of total electric power supplied
by the sources (alternating) which travels in the circuit
back and forth without doing any useful work. This power can
not be extracted or converted into other form of energy.
That is why it is also called wattless power. The average
value of reactive power over a full cycle for a sinusoidal
source is zero. Unit of reactive power is VAr.
