slow setting admixture or retarder which is type-B according to ASTM 494 is used to slow down the setting time of concrete.Sometimes the batching plants are far away from the construction sites so in that case we have to use some chemicals to delay the setting time of concrete.
sugar is the commonly used retarder.Its usage depends upon the temperature of concrete,ambient temperature,dosage rate,type of admixtures etc
