Although the density of free electrons around the positive conductor is less as compared to negative conductor but the electrons are highly concentrated around the curved surface of the positive conductor and hence for same energy that has to be dissipated in corona, the activation energy require to enegerize the electrons to take part in corona will be less in case of positive conductor as compared to negative conductor.
hence due to participation of large no. of high energy electrons around positive conductor in corona as compared to negative polarity we can say that corona losses are higher in positive conductor as compared to negative conductor.
