For the same power rating,which motor is bigger in size,AC or DC?
Answer Posted / rabisankar
For 1phase AC machine P=v*i*cos (thita).
For 1phase DC machine P=v*i.
now cos(thita)<=1.
so for same power rating ac machine must have larger i than dc.
so thick conductor is required,so its size is larger than dc
machine.
