Why 66KV is step down to 11KV and then 433v, not directly
66KV to 433v ?
Answer Posted / 7anoter4
66 kV it is a transmission line. Distribution line-
connecting power transformer -it is usually 4-35 kV. A
small transformer- up to 3000 kVA -built for 66 kV will be
2-3 times more expensive- including breakers or special
high-voltage fuses. The maintenance is more expensive. A
transformer failure could produce a 66 kV line trip and so
a large number of consumers would remain without energy
supply.
The expensive transmission line connects large transformers
in safe conditions and from here cheaper distribution lines
will get close to the cheaper small transformer locations.
