When connected in series it will increase the voltage
output, and keep amperage the same, as stated above.
If you have 12v 100Ah batteries, and require 24v 600 Ah for
a back-up system to last 5-6 hours, you would need 12
batteries total:
6 sets of 2 batteries in series to get the required 24v,
then parallel those 6 sets for a total of 600 Ah.
This is a standard system for back-up battery systems in
remote sites with intermittent commercial power.
