generally in reaction turbine, only a part of pressure
energy is converted into kinetic energy. whaat about
balance pressure energy incase of single cylinder steam
turbine?
Answer Posted / abhishek
Reaction turbines are used in
places where the pressure
head is not very large,in
such cases a compromise is
made by converting some of
the pressure energy into
kinetic and a large flow rate
of fluid, instead in the case of
impulse turbine a large
fraction of total energy is
kinetic and flow rate is low.
If in reaction turbine total
pressure energy is
converted into kinetic,the
back pressure at exit would
become less than atmospheric.
