what is the difference between between open delta and
broken delta?
Answer Posted / engineer tanweer hussain
in delta delta connection no difficulty faced against 3rd harmonic because path for circulating current is avoidable. Operating advantage in delta delta is that when one unit is removed from service the remaining can be operated in open open delta at reduced loading of 57% and not 2/3 of full capacity .
Proof.
Power in V/power in closed delta = (3)1/3 Vph Iph/3Vph Ih
= 1/1.732*100= 57.7%
