How to find earthfault location in long cable layed
underground or outside.
Answer Posted / santoshvarma
You can find the faulted location with the help of multimeter.
Measure the capacitance at both the ends,between faulted
phase with respect to earth.
For one end if it is C1 and for other end it is C2. And
total length of cable is L and Capacitance is C.
Then by using the below formula, you can find the faulted
location
LC=L1c1+L2c2

My question is it necessary to install an arrestor on every tank or will this particular one be covered by the arrestor installed on the ajdacent tank, Since all the tanks are close to each other. Basically, I want to know that if these arrestors or protection works in a parituclar area of effect or influence. Thanks

A commercial Building is designed with 14th floor levels with indoor substation of three phase transformer with rated capacity of 1000 Kva.The transformer delivered 65% of its rated capacity at 0.67 power factor lagging.Because of low power factor, the power customer was penalized and certain cost was charged accordingly based on every point percentage lower than 85%.This situation may repeatedly happen on the succeding energy bills of power customer.The power customer is desired to improve its historical power factor of 0.67 lagging and no further penalty be impose by the local power company on the next bill.
