two bolbs of 100w and 40w respectively connected in series
across a 230v supply.which bolb will glow bright and why?
Answer Posted / guest
bulb of 40 watt will glow more brightly..
reasons in steps>>
1) power is directly proportional to current. so current of
the 100 watt bulb will be more than the current of 40 watt
bulb regardless of the connection.
2) as the current of the 100 w bulb is higher than 40w so,
resistance of 100 w is less than resistance of 40 w.
3) so as glowing is direct proportional to the voltage
across the bulb, and V=IR ...so voltage across 40 watt is
greater than voltage accros 100 watt.so bulb of 40 watt glow
more brightly.
