1.5sq.mm specified is the overall cross section area of wire. area=3.14xr2, we get radius of value r= Sq. root (3.14/1.5) which equals 1.44mm. so total diameter will be twice of r, i.e 2.88mm. So thickness of 1.5sq.mm wire will be 2.88mm
