When the Length of Bars available in the market is many
times smaller than the length required or when pieces of
bars are to be utilized,the bars are required to be lapped
that lapped length is called lap length.
Lap length will be as follows;
Tension - Ld or 30 x diameter of bar,whichever is greater.
Compression - Ld or 24 x diameter of bar,whichever is
greater.
