Large gens have field as rotor and field supply is given
with the help of collector rings (slip ring) and carbon
brushes from shaft mounted DC exciter or external excitation
panel .In case of brushless, DC excitation supply is given
directly from shaft mounted armature of the AC exciter
through the rectifiers.Its field is controlled from outside.
