what is the meaning of code number which is given on
bearing.

Answer Posted / m c a nair

OK; the first answer given is almost right. But to be more clarifying

Say the bearing code given is 6301Z

6 denotes the type of bearing : Deep groove ball bearing
3 stands for the size of the bearing, say OD and width of bearing
01 (last 2 digits) stands for the bore of the bearing ie 12 mm bore
00 - 10 mm bore
01- 12 mm bore
02- 15 mm bore
03- 17 mm bore
from 04 - 04 x 5= 20 mm bore
05- 05 x 5= 25 mm bore
Z stands for metallic shield
if 2z means both side shielded

If the bearing number given is 23215 C3?

2 stands for spherical roller bearing;
3 and 2 stands for the size of the bearing(Bearing construction details)
15 last 2 digits stands for the bore of the bearing say 15 x 5= 75 mm bore
C3 stands for the internal clearance of the bearing, which is more than normal internal clearance) C1, C2, normal, C3 C4 etc
If not mentioned it is normal clearance

Is This Answer Correct ?    100 Yes 9 No
