lightning current is ac or dc..?????

Answer Posted / shailesh tankni

I think it is ac having a very high frequency, as when a
lighting discharge is there it induces a voltage of high
frequency in the transmission line.
due to this effect many times the domestic appliances also
gets damaged.
and this is the reason why the protection devices use
filtering devices like inductance and capacitance which are
designed according to the frequency value and is used to
bypass these induced charge and earth them.

A 400 V, 50 Hz, Δ connected synchronous generator has a field reactance of 0.1 Ω and armature resistance of 0.015 Ω. At full load, the machine supplies 1200 A at 0.8 pf lagging. Under full-load conditions, the friction and windage losses are 40 KW and the core losses are 30 KW. What is the machine’s overall efficiency? Ignore any field circuit losses.
