If single phase motor is supplied by ac supply, it will rotet
because single phase motor are universal motor. So it work
for both AC & DC.
But the DC supply must be less than its AC rating, because
in DC there is no reactant .
I=V/(R+jX) (AC)
I=V/R (DC)
So current is vary high which may burnt out the winding.

What is meant by control system?
L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is located at a place from where transmission line enters the transmitting substation. So L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is the first equipments which has to encounter with lightening, high voltage surges and switching surges. It has to absorb energy of lightening, high voltage surges, and switching surges. L.A. (Lightening Arrester) is made up of layers of semiconductors.
