what will happen if transformer given dc input

Answer Posted / saravanan.p

The mutual induction(M=L.dt/dI) between primary and
secondary windings will occurs due to the flex (Magnetic
Field). This flex comes due to sinusoidal wave only.In DC,
which has no sinusoidal wave. While giving the DC to
transformer windings, The winding will simply act as a
conductors. Due to cooper loss (no iron loss), the windings
will get heat and the temperature rising affect the
windings also.
