It is possible to predict the chemical composition of the
Cast Iron based on the Cast Iron Grade. The physical
properties are direct indicators of the chemical compostion.
Si is the element which increases the tensile properties of
Cast Iron. So keeping the Carbon % low and increasing the
Si % will definitely improve the tensile strength of Cast
Iron. Another Alloying element influencing Tensile
properties is Mn. As Mn increases the tensile strength
increases.
