what is the disadvantage of leading power factor...why can't
we use it (pf=0) for a long period of time?
Answer Posted / romroxmal
It's unpractical to have a leading power factor in an
electrical distribution system in general because majority
of your loads especially motors and some rotating machines
are partly inductive loads. Just keep the power factor
lagging like 85 to 95% PF by automatic capacitor banks.
Efficiency and life expectancy of those said loads mentioned
will be diminished.
