how the slump and Compressive Strength of concrete cube is
performed in a civil engg lab ?
Answer Posted / julius dulawen
Set the slump cone and fill with concrete mix at 3 layers
and tamp by using the 16mm Plain round bar 25 times each
layer but be sure not to touch the previous layer. Remove
excess concrete on last layer then carefully remove the
cone vertically and place beside the concrete mix. measure
the slump by a measuring device the compare to the
specified slump height.
Concrete cubes is performed by mixing water, cement and
sand in a portable concrete mixer. place the mix in 3 sets
of 2"x2"x2" steel mold, 3 cubes each set then mark each set
for 3, 7, and 28 days. Place the cubes in a curing pan
after removal from the mold when hardened then test it for
3,7 and 28th day age for compressive strength determination.
