grounding & earthing are different.
GROUNDING:If the live point (current carrying part)of the
system is earthed ,it is called as grounding.
EX: In star connected system,the neutral point is
grounded.
EARTHING:If the non-live point(other than current carrying
part )of the system is earthed,it is called as earthing.
EX:Earthing of outer frame of the electrical machine.
