What is basic difference between Soft Starters And VFD
drives?
Answer Posted / anup patil
The Starting current of motor is very high.To protect the
motor from the high starting current we use soft
starters.VFD's on the other hand are also called as
Variable Speed Drives where we can change the speed of the
motor from 0rpm to motor rated rpm by varying the
frequency. It is mainly used to operate the motor at its
variable speed.By use of soft starters the motor reaches at
its full load smoothly and after reaching at its full speed
it acts as a VFD.
