STT stands for SECURITY TRANSACTION TAX. It is generally
levied when we sell or purchase securities from recognized
stock exchange. It's tax rate is about 0.15%. and the LONG
TERM CAPITAL GAIN that arises from these securities to
individual is tax free & in SHORT TERM it tax will charged
at 15%.

During an audit of a company, i saw a contractor consolidated invoice for installation at site in which it shows labour charges and goods supply separately and no service tax and vat is charged.
