As per my knowledge the above mentioned is DYNAMIC BRAKING.
The Regerating braking is the speed of a motor is increased
upto or above to the top speed. And suddenly disconnect
the supply to motor. So, the motor is act as a generator
and the generated supply opposing the main supply. So, the
motor is tried to rotate in opposite direction. So it will
be stopped suddenly.
