how the slump and Compressive Strength of concrete cube is
performed in a civil engg lab ?

Answer Posted / shunmugam

the slump test is carried in engineering lab by the slump
cone apparatus the given mixed concrete is placed in the
slump cone with a base plate under then the concrete is
filled in 3 layers each layer is compacted with tamping rod
by giving 25 blows on each layer the standard length of
slump cone is 30cm the slump cone is then taken out the
amount or the length at which the concrete slumped with
respect to 30cm is then find out

Compressive strength of concrete cube is made by preparing
a concrete cube is to be made with standard grade say
m15,m20....m40 etc then it is cured for about 28 days and
then it is palced in a compression testing machine the load
at which concrete cube fails is noted which divided by the
cross sectional area gives the compressive strength of
concrete
