Why Power generation in India is at 50Hz while in America
its 60Hz so is there any advantage/Disadvantage of this ??
Answer Posted / thuranga
We all know that as the frequency is increased the conductor
size must be increased, In INDIA (being a economically
backward country when compared to US) found operating at
50hz is more economical than that of the 60Hz.and coming to
US it has a very high quality of power because the
investment for the power is also high which it can afford.
So my friends it is only for the Economical reason why India
is using 50Hz and Us with 60Hz frequency, and not any other
reason. So only all the equipment in India designed to work
at 50Hz to make the equipment economical for a common man.
Thank u
