why battery is connected in series?

Answer Posted / kkk

Depending upon the voltage and current rating you want,
batteries may be connected in series / parallel or
combination of series & parallel. To get more voltage
keeping current / load same, add the batteries in series.
If you need more load to be connected without change in
voltage level (that of a single battery), connect them in
parallel. If you need higher voltage level than single
battery & require mor current, connect them in combination
of series & parallel as per requirement keeping the
following formulas in mind
1. In series, voltage increases as V = v1+v2+v3+....
2. In parallel, current increases as I = i1+i2+i3+....
