from pair of cables (Either Fiber Optic or Copper Cables).

Cat1 Tradational Telephone line(Not use for networking)
Cat2 4 Mbps (not reccomended for Networking)
Cat3 10 Mbps ethernet
cat4 16 Mbps used for token ring
cat 5 100 Mbps fast ethernet
cat 6 1 Gbps Gigabyte ethernet
