Question { SSC, 21968 }

English paper of CGL-2010 (Tier-II).

Answer

Hi Hemant,

I want to clear your doubts regarding some problems :-

Antonyms :-
Steadfast means "Constant" whereas Staunch means "trustworthy" and Wavering means "Movement";"Unevenness".

Now you tell me which is right ????

Synonyms :-
Squander means "to spend money wastefully" whereas Economical means "spending less" and Waste means "waste"

So you can better understand which is correct.

1st passage you are right (D) 220 & (A) on a white card
2nd passage you are right (B) To watch the people passing by
3rd passage I'm nither sure abt. yours nor mine. But regarding St, Valantine you may refer to the last paragraph of the passage....
4th passage I don't think so
6th passage I don't agree with you.

Spotting Error :-
(B) Has passed-Many a is always followed by singular verb.
(A) On the time-At the time
(C) either of the brothers which means there is selection of one between the two so the subject here is singular hence the verb agrees to the singular subject. So, singular verb "was" will be in place of "WERE"
(D) repeated the word again-Repeated And Again cannot be used together.
(A) It was me who was-It was I who am (Nominative Case)
(B) delete "why are"
(D) No Sooner is always followed by than hence the sentence is correct.
(C) Can we?-Can't we?
(B) Gone now-Go now
(C) for the last two decades-since
(C) Parade grounds-Ground
(A) concerto-concert
(B) with Guptas to a-for a
(C) pounce upon a rat-Pouncing upon a rat
(C) which invade the human body-That invade the human body
(B) has left-had left

one word substitution :-
Alias is the correct one....relate to dictionary

Is This Answer Correct ?    2 Yes 0 No
