Actually, Middlware In software development is a "Layer"(a
tier) that gets user's request from "Web layer(a tier)",
for its procseeing.

This layer is also called bussiness layer as all bussiness
componets(bussiness objs) and entire bussiness proessing
logic is deployed to this layer, usually inside application
server's running on local machine.

thus now in broader terms (networking terms), Middlware
consist of many softwares that CONNECTS all bussiness
compnents deployed/running LOCALLY and REMOTELY and
provide/solve their integrity, consitency, sync and
connetivity issuess at back end.

Thus developer can focus on bussiness logic devlopment then
to waste time in such low level integrity connectivity
tasks.

Since Oracle has merged all their such
softwares(soa esb bpm..) with welogic server after aquiring
it with BEA and bundeled it in one pack, it is called
ORACLE FUSION MIDDLWAE (a pack).
