Why anchoring of reinforcing bars necessary and what are
the shapes ?
Answer Posted / c. mak
Anchoring of reinforcing bars is necessary when the
development length of the reinforcement is larger than the
structure. Anchorage is used so that the steel's intended
tension load can be reached and pop-outs will not occur.
Anchorage shapes can take the form of 180 or 90 degree hooks.
