one of the protection systems used in the transformer is
Gas operated Bucholz relay.
The transformer is filled with oil. On passing current
through it, gas bubbles are formed inside it.After the
formation of gases, immediately the relay gets operated &
it will sense the gas which gets build inside the
transformer. These gases are harmful and which switchoff
the transformer. This relay sense the gas & trip off the
transformer before a fault is occured
