Difference between milestone and periodic billing?

milestone billing is a billing plan type where the customer
have to pay the amount in parts within the billing date
e.g. suppose the bill amount of the customer is 1000usd,
the customer can pay 200usd,300usd as mentioned on the
aggrement
whereas in periodic plan type the customer have to pay the
amount in a regular periodic intervele.g. the customer have
to pay the 1000usd in 1 year then the amount payable by the
customer is 1000/12.
