What are the differences between sap sid and host name.
Answer Posted / Ekta Sharma
In SAP systems, SID (System ID) and Host Name have different purposes:
1) SID: The SID is a unique identifier for an individual instance of an SAP system. It's used by the operating system to locate the specific SAP executables, such as the ABAP development workbench or the NetWeaver AS Java.
2) Host Name: The Host Name (also known as Node Name) is the name given to a computer on a network. In an SAP context, it serves as a reference for the physical or virtual machine running the SAP instance.
