"The Oracle alert log file (ORACLE_SID.log) provides status information about the database instances. By default, it is located in the $ORACLE_BASE/admin/$ORACLE_SID/bdump directory for Linux/Unix based systems and ORACLE_HOMEadmin$ORACLE_SIDbdump for Windows-based systems."
