If gravity only attracts mass and if light does not have mass why does it appear to bend when passing a planet?

Light does indeed appear to bend due to the effect known as gravitational lensing. Although light has no mass, it can be affected by the curvature of space-time caused by massive objects like planets according to Einstein's theory of general relativity.
