What is group by in select statement using sap database?
Answer Posted / Mohammad Danish
In SAP Database (MaxDB and HANA), the GROUP BY clause is used in SELECT statements to categorize data based on one or more columns. The syntax for a basic GROUP BY statement is:
SELECT <column1>, <aggregate_function>(<column2>)
FROM <table_name>
GROUP BY <column3>;
In this example, the data from the <table_name> table is grouped by the <column3> values. The <aggregate_function> can be functions such as COUNT(), SUM(), AVG(), MIN(), or MAX(). These functions are applied to the data within each group.
