What is the difference between samba and ftp server in linux?

Answer Posted / Rahul Singh Rathor

Samba and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) servers both serve files over a network but have some key differences. Samba supports Windows clients and offers more robust user authentication options, including Active Directory integration. It also provides file sharing, printer sharing, and domain membership capabilities. On the other hand, FTP is primarily used for transferring files between computers on a network or the internet. It does not offer user management features beyond basic username and password authentication.
