What is the significance of the nmi pin in the 8086?

Answer Posted / Rohit Rajan Dohary

The NMI (Non-Maskable Interrupt) pin in the 8086 is used for generating a hardware interrupt that cannot be masked or disabled by software. When an NMI occurs, the processor stops its current activity and jumps to a fixed memory location associated with the NMI interrupt.
