A Dependent Data Warehouse relies on the source system for its data, as it extracts and processes data from operational databases in real-time or near real-time. An Independent Data Warehouse, on the other hand, has a separate and self-contained database that is periodically updated with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. It can store historical data for extended periods to support long-term analysis.
