The history of Bluetooth can be traced back to 1994 when Jakob Arnholt and his team at Ericsson Mobile Communications, Sweden, developed a wireless technology named 'Angel Link' for the development of cordless phones. The name was later changed to 'Bluetooth' in 1997, after Harald Blaatand (Harald Bluetooth), a Danish King known for unifying Denmark and Norway around 958 AD.nIn 1998, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) was formed by Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia, Toshiba, and a few other companies. The first Bluetooth specifications were published in 1999, and the first commercially available Bluetooth products were launched in 2000.
