TMSI (Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity) is a temporary identity assigned to the mobile station by the base transceiver station. It is used instead of the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) for reducing the number of times sensitive IMSI is sent over the air, thereby improving security and privacy.
