The three-phase β-bridge inverter operates in the 1200-degree mode to produce a square wave output voltage. This configuration has two active switches (S1, S2) and one diode (D1) per phase, resulting in six switches in total.
During each half-cycle, one active switch is turned on while the other is turned off, thus producing a 120-degree pulse in the line voltage waveform. The line voltage waveforms are shifted by 120 degrees with respect to each other, ensuring proper phasing and forming a near-square wave output voltage.
A simplified circuit diagram for the three-phase β-bridge inverter is as follows:
