As you said you have worked on info cubes and ods, which one is better suited for reporting? Explain and what are the drawbacks and benefits of each one?

Answer Posted / Sarman Baghel

Info Cubes (DSOs) and Operational Data Providers (ODPs) both serve as data storage structures in SAP BI, but they have different purposes and suitability for reporting. Info Cubes are designed for fast querying and analysis of large amounts of data using advanced indexing and aggregation techniques. They are well-suited for complex reporting requirements and are the primary choice for reports that require high performance and sophisticated analytical functionality. On the other hand, ODPs are optimized for faster loading and updating of operational data. They are best suited for real-time or near real-time reporting scenarios where fast data updates are required, such as dashboards or scorecards. However, ODPs may not perform as well in complex analytical scenarios due to their slower query performance compared to Info Cubes.
