Write the condition for critical point (a,b) to become a function f(x,y) maximum.
Answer Posted / Surender Singh Negi
For a critical point (a,b) of a function f(x,y) to be a local maximum, the Hessian matrix (second-order partial derivatives) must be positive semi-definite and the gradient vector (first-order partial derivatives) must be zero at that point.
