What is persistence mode in cache?

Answer Posted / Ram Babu

In SAP BW (Business Warehouse), the Persistence Mode refers to how data is stored in cache. There are two persistence modes available:

1. Immediate Persistence: Data is immediately written to the database after it has been loaded into cache. This ensures that the data is saved before the cache is cleared, but it may cause performance issues due to excessive database access.
2. Deferred Persistence: Data is stored in cache without being immediately written to the database. When the cache reaches a certain size limit or when the data is needed for processing, it is then persisted to the database. This results in better performance as there's less database access, but it may lead to data loss if the cache is cleared before data is saved.
