What is the diff. between Synthesized hopping and Baseband
hopping
Answer Posted / Rajeev Kumar Malhavtra
Synthesized hopping and baseband hopping are both used in spread spectrum techniques to reduce interference in wireless communication systems. However, they differ in their implementation:
1. Baseband Hopping: In baseband hopping, the entire signal is modulated at a high frequency and then hopped across different carrier frequencies within the band. This technique is simple and efficient but is more susceptible to interception.
2. Synthesized Hopping: In synthesized hopping, a local oscillator (LO) generates the carrier frequencies dynamically during run-time, which makes it less predictable and harder for an eavesdropper to intercept the signal. This technique is more complex but provides better security.
