how to calculate potency of working standard by using mass
balence method & this calculated potency is on as basis or
on anhydrous/ dried basis
Answer Posted / Rekha Verma
To calculate the potency of a working standard using mass balance method, first, prepare a known quantity (working standard) of the substance to be tested. Weigh this amount (m1) and record it. Then, take an unknown sample (m2). After analysis, note down the mass of the consumed working standard (dm). The potency (P) can then be calculated as P = m1 / dm.
